James Maylor Obituary

March 31, 1935 - March 30, 2016 Our father died peacefully at the age of 80 on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 with his children by his side. James was the great grandson of pioneers from Ireland who settled Maylor's Point (Oak Harbor), Whidbey Island, Washington. He was the second of two children born in Pasadena, California to LaRee Kleinman and Marcellus Lindsay Maylor. Jim graduated from Pasadena City College and in 1956 he married Leslie Loukota and they had three children. He worked in the Savings and Loan industry most of his career and was very involved in City of Cypress Rotary Club. Jim stayed very active for many years enjoying golf, cycling, tennis, skiing and bowling and participated annually in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes-Shooting Stars. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Marc Kevin Maylor (2015). He is survived by his brother, Frank Maylor; his two daughters: Melinda Accetturo (Mario) and Kristin Fontenette (Troy); daughter-in-law, April Maylor and five grandchildren. A private family service will be held in June on Whidbey Island where Jim will be buried alongside his son, Marc.

He was a good man.
I met him when l was about 7 years old when he was a manager for l believe PASADENA SAVING IN CYPRESS,CA (1973).
He inspired me,and convinced me to constantly save money in his bank.
He was also on the BOARD OF DIRECTORS @ CYPRESS BOY'S CLUB in (1973).

I want to thank you for inspiring me to save money at your bank in Cypress,California back in 1976 when I was just 10 years old. You were a member of the Cypress Boy's Club Board Of Directors back then. I was declared an asset to society and won several trophies back in 1979 at an awards banquet. I was thinking of you today as I've been kind of depressed as I don't have any real friends anymore, and you were really a true friend because you really liked me as a person and you had a good sense of humor. Unfortunately my mother got remarried, and my family took me away to Grand Island, Nebraska when I was 13 back in 1979. I never forgot you. I came back to California and unfortunately the savings and loan that you managed was no longer in business. I'M real sorry about that because I would have love to have followed in your footsteps and worked for you as a banker. You were a hell of a nice man. You treated me with a lot of decency and respect even though I was a little kid while I was coming to your bank and saving every penny, nickel ,dime and dollar that I had.

Jimbo it seems I misspelled "with" in my first message. I bet you caught that right away and laughed. If it hadn't been for Katy I would not have known. I guess Kate still looks out for you.
May the Good Lord be WITH you Jimbo.

Loved Mr Maylor. He was married to my best buddy Katy also known as Lades for 15 years. Jim loved our family as we did love him. We called him Zim because of our son, Matthew. Many wonderful memories.

Death leaves a heartache that no one can heal; but love leaves a memory that no one can steal. Jim will always hold a special place in my heart. My sympathies to Mindy and Kristin for the loss of your Dad.
Can't think of one person that didn't think Jim was a wonderful man.
Also so very sad to learn of Marc's passing last year. Two very special people have gone to be with the Lord. Keep the happy memories alive in your hearts.

While we weren't able to visit too much with Jim in his later years, he was my brother-in-law, having been married to Katy (Langstroth) Maylor and, therefore, a part of our family for many years. We will always remember the good times we had together and miss Jim's humor and good spirit! Rest in peace Jim -- YOU WERE HERE, JNM!

Jim was my next door neighbor in Cypress for years. He was a good friend and we shared many meals and a lot of laughs together. I miss him but will cherish the memories.
