Barnard Maughlin Obituary

Barnard Maughlin

Love and Light to Barnard Maughlin who was born in Everett, WA on April 18, 1928 to Evelyn Maughlin. Named after father Barnard who died of polio months before Ben was born, Ben passed away peacefully on March 13, 2011 at 82 years old.
Ben graduated from Everett High School in 1946 and joined the U.S. Marine Corps, honorably discharged in 1948 with rank of corporal. He then moved to Long Beach, CA and worked in the aviation industry, retiring from McDonnell Douglas - Rockwell Int'l after 16 years of dedicated service including special work for NASA on the space shuttles. He sold his California home and moved to Kingman, AZ to build his retirement home where he spent many happy times water skiing on Lake Havesu.
In 1988, Ben moved back to Washington to be closer to family and settled in Edmonds. He enjoyed water and sky views through an angled-roof sunroom, reminiscent of wings of the aerospace industry in which he worked for much of his life.
In later years, this salty gentleman enjoyed sharing forwarded email to friends and family. An avid audio/videophile, Ben loved to watch sports and soak up many genres of music on his beloved hi-fi equipment.
Ben is survived by sister, Marian Squibb; sister-in-law, Lorna Maughlin; eight nieces and nephews, Steven Maughlin, Karen Maughlin Haines, Jeffery Maughlin, Connie Maughlin Mantel, Susan Maughlin Wood, Wade Farley, Maureen Farley Waff, and Gerald Farley.
He was predeceased by his brother, Charles Maughlin in 1980.
He wished for no rites or ceremony but please celebrate and honour his life in your own way. Perhaps wave as an aircraft flies overhead, or set a few dandelion seeds aloft.
