Bjorn Lovlie Obituary

Bjorn Martin Lovlie

Bjorn Martin Lovlie passed away on January 26, 2011 in Everett, WA surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was born on September 24, 1931 in Trondheim, Norway to Johan and Margit Lovlie.
Bjorn married Randi Johansen on October 18, 1958, in Trondheim, Norway and thereafter, the newlyweds set sail for the shores of New York City, arriving in February, 1959 with two suitcases and $250, where a cross-country Greyhound bus ride landed them in Ballard. From there, they made their first home just north of Greenlake where they set down roots and began their family.
Bjorn is survived by the love of his life of 52 years, Randi Lovlie; one son, Erik (Selena) Lovlie of Lake Stevens; and one daughter, Elizabeth (Phil) Frederickson of Bothell; six grandchildren, Kim, Connor, Taylor, Tiana, Sara, and Danielle; and one great-grandson, Mason. He is also survived by his brother, Svenn (Elaine) Lovlie; three sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews in Norway and France.
Bjorn worked in the print department at the University of Washington and as a mailer for the Seattle Post Intelligencer and the Seattle Times until his retirement in 1994.
He was an active member of Everett Tronderlag, Teamsters Local #763, and a lifetime member of Normanna Lodge, Sons of Norway in Everett, WA. Bjorn also served proudly in the Norwegian Air Force between 1950 and 1952. He enjoyed skiing, camping, fishing, bowling, and spending time with his family and friends.
Bjorn is preceded in death by his parents, Johan and Margit Lovlie; and one brother, Johan Lovlie, all of Norway.
A celebration to honor Bjorn's life will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 9320 Meadow Way, Everett, with a reception immediately following at the church.
The family requests that anyone attending the memorial to proudly wear their Norwegian sweater.
If you wish to make a memorial donation, it can be made to Normanna Lodge Scholarship Fund, 2725 Oakes Avenue, Everett, WA, or to a charity of your choice in his name.
The family wishes to thank the 3rd Floor Critical Care nurses - Kay, Jessica and Peggy - at Providence Hospital Colby Campus for their compassion, care, understanding and integrity in caring for our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and "Papa."
