Bret Thayer Obituary
Bret Thayer
Bret graduated from Stanwood High School in 1978, then served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps. After returning to Camano Island, he married his high school sweetheart, Linda. Together Bret and Linda built their home and raised their children, Monica, 23, and Brandon, 22.
Bret worked at Schenk Packing Co. in Stanwood until his illness progressed.
It was a great honor for Bret to have the opportunity to serve his community working as a volunteer fire fighter with the Camano Island Fire Department. Bret was a kind and generous man who loved to help others. He enjoyed spending time with his family at the beach, boating, crabbing, kayaking, and going on family vacations. We will always remember his heartwarming smile. Bret touched so many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Bret is preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Herbert Thayer Jr.; and brother, Herbert III.
Bret is survived by his wife of 27 years, Linda; daughter Monica, soon to be married to Blake Wickstrom; a son Brandon; brothers, Tony, Tim and twin brother Bart; and numerous other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 6, 2011 at 12:00 p.m., at Camano Chapel, 867 West Camano Drive, Camano Island.
Memorials may be made to the ALS Association Evergreen Chapter, 19115 68th Ave S., Suite H105, Kent, WA 98032, or to the Camano Island Fire and Rescue.

We miss Bret already, Dale and I have warm memories to carry for all our days. Including the time Dale dropped an entire salmon on the deck while Bret was BBQing.. oh well- We love you guys and hold you in our hearts in prayer while you move through your grief.

I am sorry for your loss and pray God comforts you all. I do not know Bret personally but I am also a ALS patient and am 51 yrs. old still raising kids and have fast progression. This disease is devestating and I pray he now R.I.P.
