Charlotte Kellogg Obituary

Charlotte J. Kellogg

Charlotte, 82, of Mukilteo, WA passed away May 7, 2011. She was born the daughter of William and Helen Pearson on October 31, 1928 in Everett, WA.
Charlotte was baptized at Our Savior's on Easter Sunday in 1929 and confirmed in 1937. She was well beloved in the congregation and served as Treasurer, Council Member and Finance Committee. She organized the Bazaars and hosted the Christmas Smorgasbords. Charlotte was a leader and a servant. Most of all, she was a friend to everyone.
Charlotte married Richard W. Kellogg September 2, 1951 in Everett, WA. They spent 51 years together in marriage before Richards passing in 2002.
She began as a secretary in the law offices of Charles Turner and Noah Shakespeare and with Paul Stocker and William Ingram, plus five years at First National Bank. Charlotte was a Mukilteo town clerk for two years and town treasurer for seven and a half years. Charlotte followed in the footsteps of her grandfather, Hans Solie, who was also an activist in his younger days. In 1972 she entered a battle with the Washington State Parks Department over expanding the boat launch facilities and eliminating other public services. Charlotte worked tirelessly to ensure that the state park would continue to be multi-purposed and families could enjoy the beach in conjunction with boaters. Charlotte worked determinedly to expand quality of education for her children and all students. In 1973 she challenged the Mukilteo School District to be more transparent with the taxpayers. She was the first woman Airport Commissioner for Paine Field and also loved volunteering for the Future Of Flight. Charlotte loved working as a Real Estate Managing Broker and loved helping buyers and sellers for over 30 years. She finished her career December 2010 at Windermere Real Estate.
Charlotte was an avid sports fan but the Mariners were her favorite team. One of her favorite past times was playing bridge with her "bridge club buddies."
Charlotte was pre-deceased by her parents; husband; and step-father, Irving Beagle.
She is survived by daughters, LeAnn Dreier, Lynell Johnson (Scott) and Laura Burton; grandchildren, Chad (Deanna), Tomi Lyn (Marc), Justin, Colton, Keyan and Keara; great-grandchildren, Hailey, James, Jake and Dylan. Charlotte's laughter, compassion, wit and faith were a precious gift which will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., May 22 at Our Savior's Lutheran, 215 W. Mukilteo Blvd., Everett, WA, 98203. There will be a basket at the reception to put your favorite Charlotte story in.

Lynell & Family,

It is never easy to lose your Mom no matter how old. Yours was very special and I know you will carry on her many great traditions. I enjoyed our shared love of the M's and going to games with her. I loved her opinions on the players! I guess you'll just have to call me now when there is a good play or a hopefully infrequent bad play. She will be missed

Charlotte's welcoming smile and gracious hospitality were always there when we came to church. She was always willing to share her thoughts and opinions on so many subjects, and that made her such an interesting and stimulating person to be around. She will be sorely missed at OSLC, and especially by your family. Our sympathy to all of you.
