Cornelius Fry Obituary

Cornelius W. Fry

Born April 2, 1917 at home near Worley, WI, Cornelius W. Fry passed away August 26, 2010 in his home near Lake Stevens, WA.
Neil, as most folks knew him, had a full life. He grew up on a farm with school at a one-room schoolhouse where most of his brothers and sisters were being taught, too. It undoubtedly added to his sense of importance where family was concerned.
He and his family were musically gifted. He loved singing, was a wonderful tenor and was able to play any stringed instrument he ever picked up. He enjoyed singing at Trinity Lutheran Church on Sundays and beamed after a Saturday with the Snohomish Blue Grass group.
He joined the Army to protect the nation he loved during WWII. He became a pilot for the Army Air Corp, was assigned B24s and sent to the South Seas campaign. Many of his crew and friends never made it back to the States. Upon his return to America, he soon met and married June, mother of two sons and two daughters and a close friend for over 60 years. One son, Mike, and one daughter, Joyce, also served with honor in the armed forces.
He became a carpenter and retired from that trade. Another son, Pat, followed him into the carpentry trade where they had many opportunities to work together. After officially retiring from carpentry, he helped many of his neighbors with home repair projects as well as always being available to help with family home improvements.
He loved playing cards and played most of his life. In his later years, he got together with a group of friends each week and played. The last few years of his life his daughter Jean and his friend June enjoyed a few hands with him every Sunday after supper.
The celebration of his life and honoring of his service to the USA will be held Friday, May 20, 2011, at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent at 12:30 pm. We will be gathering together at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2324 Lombard Avenue in Everett at 3:00 p.m.
