Dona Rae Kane entered the spirit world on March 17, 2014, St. Patrick's Day. She had spent the last two years under the care of the wonderful staff at the Christian Health Care Center in Lynden. She entertained her family about a week before her passing, laughing and singing with her children and grandchildren. Dona was born in North Dakota to Margaret Isabelle and Edwin Frederick Krueger on September 22, 1933. She grew up with her siblings, Albert, Caroline, John and Betty in Forest River. She left the plains of the Midwest for the beaches of Southern California in 1955. She married Harold Thomas Kane in 1956 and they lived an adventurous life together hiking, climbing, biking and sailing. They had three children before the family moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1966. Dona and Hal made a good team, whether they were dancing or instilling a sense of curiosity and reverence in their children at an early age. She was the grounding presence in their lives. A great wife, mother, grandmother and friend, always supportive, without judgment and quick to laugh. She loved art and created many beautiful pieces. In recent years, she often broke into song, surprising us all with her lovely voice. Dona will be missed by her family and friends. She joins her husband, Harold, in the spirit world, and watches over her children and their spouses, Oceana (Azuriel), Phil (Donna) and Mike (Stephanie); grandchildren, Coral (Charlie), Skylar, Hannah, Silas and Arlen; and great-grandchildren, Aidan and Kael, and the little one due this summer.
