Ellen Hurd Obituary

Ellen Terry Hurd

Ellen Terry Hurd was born March 20, 1924 in Gold Bar, WA, and passed away on February 10, 2011.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her husband, Harold J. (Pete) Hurd.
During the 1930s and 1940s, Terry lived with her parents, Irvin and Rosa (Pullen) Beeman in Valdez, Alaska. She graduated from Sultan High School and attended business college in Seattle. During WWII, Terry worked for the military in Anchorage, AK. After the death of her first husband, Richard "Dick" K. Simmons, she moved back to Washington with her young daughter Judy. Terry worked in the banking industry, mentoring many, and retiring from the Marysville branch of the Bank of America. She loved her career and the independence it gave her.
In the 1950s, Terry married Harold J. "Pete" Hurd of Mukilteo. Terry loved traveling and after Pete retired, they made many excursions around the U.S. and Canada.
Pete preceded her in death in 2006, at which time she moved to Warm Beach Senior Community.
Terry was a lovely and gracious lady, beloved by all who knew her. She loved music (especially Andre Rieu) and delighted in her cats and dogs. She was also very grateful and thankful for all the people of Warm Beach Senior Community who made her last years so comfortable and enjoyable.
Terry will be missed by her only child, Judy Moore-Parker; niece, Gwen and husband John Selle of Fairbanks, Alaska; grandchildren, Tracey Beckendorf-Edou (Kirk), Jacob Moore (Ariana) and David Lucas Parker (Priscilla); and her three great-grandchildren, all of whom she knew and loved, Patricia Solange Edou, Ellie Moore and Allen Moore.
She is survived by her sister; many nieces and nephews; and her special long time friend, Irma Olson of Warm Beach.
A memorial service will be held at the WB Senior Community Beechwood Room on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 2:00 p m to which all are invited.
In lieu of flowers please, donate to your local Humane Society or Animal Shelter.

Hello - I worked with Terry at the Marysville Branch of Seafirst (B of A) from 1971 thru 1978, when I transferred back to the Arlington Branch. Terry was a wonderful person, with a great sense of humor! I very much enjoyed working with her. She always had a smile, and was helpful to everyone. I am sorry I won't be able to attend the memorial service; however Terry will be in my thoughts. Take Care, Sharron Knutson
