Els Vanden Ende Obituary

Els Vanden Ende

Our beloved Els Vanden Ende passed away on April 5, after living a full, adventurous life in her brief 51 years. She was born on July 23, 1959 in Vlaardingen, The Netherlands to Antoinette and Cornelis Vanden Ende. Shortly after the birth of her brother, Pim, the family moved to the U.S. and welcomed the youngest child, Ernie.
Els savored sunshine and the outdoors. She loved all animals, was curious about the world and traveled to many different countries. Her most recent trip was a safari in Tanzania, a lifelong dream of hers.
While studying Physical Therapy at the U.W., Els met her husband, Ken Gangloff. They wed in the summer of 1982 and soon welcomed two daughters. She loved nurturing her girls and was so proud of the young women they've become. Her job as a therapist concluded as she pursued her passion of creating art with fused glass. She developed into an innovative and distinguished artist and gained many new friends along the way.
Els is survived by her husband, Ken; daughters, Elisha and Andie; brothers, Pim and Ernie (Betty); family members in the U.S., Australia and Holland; her extended family of treasured friends; fellow artists; and of course, Bodie.
XOXO
Ken, Elisha and Andie

Els has been a friend of the heart for me for the past 30 some years. Someone I could always count on, always honest and candid and who would tell me the truth. In my toughest moments, she was always there for me and I hope that she would say the same for me.
I was always amazed by her artistic talent, skill with animals and her warm, close-knit loving family. Els was more like a sister to me and I will miss her more than mere words can ever express. Her legacy lives on in her two smart, sweet daughters.

It just brings tears to my eyes to hear of Els's passing. I didn't know her well; it's just that she is the cousin to my dear friend Erna VanDiepenhuisen Exum. Erna said Els was like a sister to her. I do know Els was very intelligent, talented, a gifted artist and a real beauty.

I have not seen Els for years. But I think about my childhood friend often. This morning,on my morning run I went by the street where she used to live, and I said to myself,"I need to look Els Up"....I am so sorry that I will never have that chance.Hello to the family and I am so sorry for your loss

To Els Family,

We are so sorry to hear of Els passing. We were shocked and saddened. My parents, Everett (Nick) & Celia Nicholson sponsored her family when then came to the United States. We remember wonderful times visiting them and my brother and I enjoyed playing with her and Pim.
Els was such an adorable girl and my mother (Celia) enjoyed the one day she got to watch Elisha when Als was busy.
Our whole family sends you our prayers during this time.

Lord Bless and Keep You,

Diana Nicholson Oates
