Elwin Anderson Obituary
Elwin F. Anderson
Elwin graduated from Everett High School in 1937½. He worked for Everett Trust & Savings Bank, later named Olympic Bank, as a teller, branch manager, and then internal auditor.
Elwin served four years in the Army during World War II, including three years in a Signal Pigeon Company.
An avid pigeon racer even before the war, Elwin bred and raced homing pigeons nearly his whole life, receiving numerous awards for victories and his contribution to the sport.
Elwin was a lifelong member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Everett. He was also a member of the Sons of Norway and of the North Everett Lions Club. He was a strong supporter of his community, particularly the Everett Performing Arts Center, Lowell Civic Association, Pilchuck Audubon Society, and the AquaSox. He also made his farm land available for a community garden.
Elwin is survived by younger sister, Helen Helaas and her husband, Walter; seven nieces and nephews; their families; and by countless friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. this Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 215 West Mukilteo Boulevard, Everett.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Elwin may be made to Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
We are all blessed to have had Elwin in our lives.

Mr. Anderson was the best next door neighbor a little girl could have. Mr. Anderson would let me help him plant his flower beds, cut his grass, and eat all the Rainer Cherries I could possibly eat right off his cherry tree. He would tell me stories and educate me on his pigeons. It sure was nice knowing you Mr. Anderson.

Elwin was a fellow pigeon racer with my dad and I had the opportunity to meet him on several occasions. He will be missed by all who were blessed enough to have Elwin in their life.
