Evelyn Buckley of Stanwood was born at Grandview, WA on December 13, 1906. She passed away on December 8, 2013 at Warm Beach Senior Community at the age of nearly 107. She grew up in Grandview and Colville, WA. In 1928 she married Merton Buckley in Bellingham. She received a BA degree at Western WA College and an MA from the University of WA. She taught in Wrangell, AK, and several Washington communities. The bulk of her professional career was in the Shoreline, WA School District where she served as teacher, psychologist and reading specialist. She became a Christian in her 20's and served her Lord in many ways. Her church affiliation was Free Methodist. She never had children of her own, but she was loving "Auntie Lene" to four generations of nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Nellie Crouch; her husband, Merton Buckley; her brother, Benson Crouch; and sisters, Ruth Simmons and Ruby Warner. A memorial service will be held at Warm Beach in Spring of 2014.
