Robert Bailey Obituary
Robert Louis Bailey&bb& August 5, 1908 - August 31, 2001 At the age of 93 Robert reached out for God's hand and has found peace in his loving care. With a final sigh in this life, he passed away at his home in Marysville.&pe&He was born in Fort Collins, CO to James Bailey and Elizabeth Klossen Bailey as the youngest of seven surviving children. The family moved to Seattle, WA when Robert was still an infant. He attended Seattle public schools and later met and married his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Bowers, on November 27, 1928. They began their life together in Seattle moving shortly thereafter to Port Ludlow on the Olympic Peninsula. Their oldest son Robert, daughters Lillian and Barbara were born during their time there where Robert worked for Pope and Talbot in the milltown. Life was frugal for the family in the depression years. In 1936 they moved to Marysville and Dorothy gave birth to their second son, Gerald. Robert (Bob) and Dorothy completed raising their family in Marysville.&pe&During the days of the second world war, Bob and Dorothy spent endless hours volunteering for community service and particularly enjoyed being a part of Strawberry Festival activities helping to design and construct the annual Marysville City Floats. They both stood air raid warning watch duty, were Red Cross volunteers and became leaders for endless Cub Scout and Campfire Girls groups.&pe&Bob worked for Weyerhauser Company in the Everett Mills B and C for almost 30 years. He later worked for Campbell-Lynn Construction Co., participating in the building of many nursing and convalescent homes in Washington and Oregon. One of these was Madeline Villa in Marysville.&pe&Following retirement, Bob and Dorothy moved to Everett, WA before returning to Marysville about eight years ago. Many happy years were spent traveling in their motorhome throughout the western half of the United States, Canada and Mexico. A highlight for them was a cruise to Alaska and a trip with family members to Hawaii. Many lasting frienships were made in their travels. When at home Bob spent most of his time in the garage with his wood-working tools turning out delightful wind mobiles and wooden toys. Many homes in the area are graced with these in their yards, windows and playrooms.&pe&Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, four sisters, his eldest son in 1974, his beloved wife Dorothy in 1999 and several grandchildren. &pe&He is survived by his daughter Lillian M. Butters of Renton, WA who was by his side at the time of passing; daughter Barbara A. Rowe and husband Joe of Marysville; son Gerald M. Bailey and wife LaVonne of Cashmere, WA; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many loving friends.&pe&For the many hours of special loving care, support and attendance given to Robert (Bob) during his last weeks and days, special thanks to the staff at Windsor Pointe in Marysville, Hospice of Snohomish County, grandson David A.
