Gary Pepple Obituary

Gary Raymond Pepple
July 13, 1941 - Jan. 27, 2011

Gary Pepple of West Seattle, WA passed away January 27, 2011, in the company of his loving wife, Judy, while they were enjoying one of their many trips to Ocean Shores.
His children, Steve, Randy, Leanne, and Victoria Pepple survive him. The true lights of his later years, Nichole, Joe, Madeline, Claire and Tirtanya will also miss their grandpa's laughter and love of life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Raymond and Helen.
His Pepple family memories live on in brother, Ed Pepple; and sister, Mary McFarland; as well as in the lives of nephews; nieces; and cousins too numerous to count.
Gary was born at Fort Lewis, WA and called Washington State home for most of his life. He was the happiest when he was on the road with Judy, his wife of more than 40 years, enjoying the natural beauty of the Northwest.
His affiliations were many, but of specific importance were the UW, the Masons (where he was Past Master of Ionic Lodge #90), Boy Scouts of America, and Alcoholics Anonymous. Additionally, his time at Everett High School, where he met his first wife, Dorothy Moore (Curry), was the inspiration of many stories he told, and re-told, throughout his life.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service and reception at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 11 at West Side Presbyterian Church, 3601 California Avenue SW, Seattle.

To the Pepple Family,
I am deeply saddened by the news of Gary's passing. He was one of the happiest and most positive people I have met in a very long time. He always made me laugh and lifted my spirits. Myself and all the friends of Bill will truly miss him.

It's been over 25 years but I do remember running over to play with LeAnn and to play those hilarious old records, we would usually play them to loud and Gary would always be telling us to turn it down. After you all moved to the greenwood area we lost touch, but I do think about you all every time I hear one of those silly songs like Ray Stevens Ahab The Ahab. My family and I will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers.

Well, old friend, it was a pleasure trudging the road of happy destiny with you. The Tripoley games will not be the same without you, but I am sure the Saints in heaven will enjoy learning the game.

I knew Gary from our interactions at the West Seattle YMCA, him when he brought Judy and used the pool and hot tub, me when I participated in the water aerobics exercise class. He was a good guy! I was impressed with how solicitous he was with Judy. How you treat your spouse speaks volumes about you as a human in my opinion. When Carol Anne and I had to cancel a trip to Europe due to the volcano in Iceland, I substituted a driving trip over the top of the state through Port Townsend and all the way down Highway 101 to Crescent City, CA. Gary and I talked about it and, surprise, surprise, he recommended various places to eat along the way. He was knowledgeable and very helpful with his advice. Judy, I enjoyed knowing him.
