Genevieve Irene Conklin

Genevieve Irene Conklin, 86, passed away in her Edmonds, WA home on Saturday, February 5, 2011.
She was born April 18, 1925 in Dickens, Nebraska to Gladys and Lyle Moore. Her family - including six siblings - later moved to Washington where she graduated from Yakima High School in 1943.
While attending a USO dance in Pasco, Genevieve met young sailor Newman Conklin. The two married on January 21, 1945 and would celebrate each of their 64 anniversaries by dancing together.
The couple owned and operated Conklin Appliance in Lynnwood and were active in several local businesses and charitable organizations. Once retired, the Conklin's enjoyed traveling the world and spending their winters golfing in sunny Palm Springs.
Genevieve was a founding member of the Lynnwood Soroptimist and a member of the Alderwood Eastern Star. She also enjoyed playing golf and socializing at the Everett Golf & Country Club.
Her heart was broken after the death of her husband Newman in March, 2009 and again when her son Gary lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in June, 2010.
Genevieve will be missed by her daughter, Barbara Shadduck (Glenn); grand-daughters, Tara Shadduck (Steve Wangen), Janette Cline (Paul), Kelsey Bellin (Jesse) and Cheryl Conklin; and four great- grandchildren.
She leaves behind surviving siblings, Violet Olinger, Virginia Carnell, Elsie LeDuc and Robert Moore.
The family would like to thank in-home care specialists Jessie Sylde and Kathy Bellin for their compassion and expertise. It was because of their loving care that Genevieve was able to fulfill her wish to remain in her home and enjoy the view of Puget Sound.
Following a private graveside service, friends and family are welcome to celebrate her life at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at the Lynnwood Elks, 6620 196th Street SE, Lynnwood, WA.
