Gerald Thompson Obituary

Gerald A. Thompson (Jed)

Gerald A. Thompson was born to Albert and Vera McPherson Thompson in Everett, WA April 20, 1938. He had an older brother, Jim Thompson, and soon to follow would be sister Judy Thompson. Seven years later he was joined by another sister, Joyce Thompson. He lived in Everett most of his life.
Jed graduated from Everett High School in 1956. Jed served four years in the Navy on an aircraft carrier as a storekeeper stationed in San Diego, then on to Midway Island, Japan and Hawaii. When he got out of the Navy, he eventually began working at Boeing in Renton and then in Everett. He was a machinist storekeeper.
In 1967 he married Jeanne Anderson. He became an instant father to Kim (12), Rick (10), and Leslie (4). Soon daughter Jodi was born and then another daughter Jeri. In 1984 he married Diane Anglin and gained her two sons, Jeff and Jeremy. After many fun family vacations camping at Black's Beach Resort, the best thing that happened to them was stumbling onto and purchasing a home with cabin in Republic, WA, right on Lake Curlew. There were many, many, happy memories of summer vacations camping and fishing.
Jed was a dutiful father and loved walking his three daughters (Leslie, Jodi and Jeri) down the aisle. They have continued to be the best daughters a father could ever want! His sons (Rick, Jeff and Jeremy) have received his support all through their sports and school activities. A father could not be more proud of his sons.
Jed was an excellent fisherman. He caught salmon in the Port Gardner Bay and other places along the coast of Washington; he went fishing with his brother and friends in various lakes throughout the state; and, of course, he loved to catch those rainbow trout at Lake Curlew. Jed retired from Boeing in 1994 as a lead storekeeper. Diane continued to work until her retirement in 2002. Their dream of retiring "on the lake" was now a reality.
Jed and Diane began attending Liberty Baptist Church the first week of 2003 and have been active members and servants. Jed accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior on April 21 and he and Diane were both baptized shortly thereafter. The church and their faith have been a mainstay in their lives ever since.
Jed is survived by Diane, his wife of 27 years, in Republic, WA. He is also survived by his very special and loved children, Rick (Rhonda) Anderson in Fort Meyers, FL, Leslie (Sam) Vanderweken in Yakima, WA, Jodi (Bryson) Larson in Arlington, WA, Jeri (Craig) Prince in Lake Stevens, WA, Jeff (Mary) Anglin in Spokane Valley, WA and Jeremy (Kimberly) Anglin in Spokane Valley, WA; also his brother, Jim Thompson and friend Gloria Wrede in Portland, OR; his sister, Judy Johnson and husband Don in Lacey, WA; his sister, Joyce Janeshefskie and husband Jim in Everett, WA; and Diane's brother, Dennis Alexander and wife Sue in Lake Stevens, WA. He also has nieces and nephews, Bette Thompson, Pam (Jerry) Thomas, Steve Thompson, Cris (Julie) Johnson, Kari (Rob) McArthur, Julie (Tim) Leonard, Jamie Janeshefskie, Dennis Alexander, Chris (Shelby) Alexander, and Keri (Jeremy) Hugo... and all their children. And Jed can never forget those wonder grandchildren, Cortnie Anderson, Ricky Anderson, Ashley Anderson, Michael Vanderweken, Jaimee Vanderweken, Jennaka Larson, Kyler Larson, Karlee Prince, Bob Utecht, Heather Utecht, and Brandon Anglin, Madison Anglin, Justin Anglin. There are also special aunts, Verna Roberts and Delaine Hill; and the many cousins he has, especially Bob (Pearl) Thompson.
Special thanks to those friends who have supported Jed and Diane so very much during the last three plus years: Pastor Greg and Teri Perkins, Sandy and JoAnn Sandoval, John and Renee Mettler, Carl and Jean Maxwell, Stacey Elings, Bev Burchard, Teresa Stenek. There are so many more friends locally and out of town that have been there for us that we just can't mention them all but we will always remember you in our hearts. God bless you all.
Jed passed away at home with Diane by his side on April 6 after a courageous battle with cancer. He will be missed by Diane and his family so much. But Diane knows she will see him again in Heaven. God has always been so good to them!
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church in Republic, WA (509-775-1028).
In lieu of flowers, Jed would appreciate memorials be sent to Liberty Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1055, Republic, WA 99166.

Dear Dad,
I'm going to miss you at 11:11, on 5-14 and every single hour of every single day. So many things remind me of you. How are we ever suppose to let go? Like the song says, "The seeds you've sewn are deep inside of me". I will never let go and never forget what an incredible Dad I have. You're dry sense of humor that only some of us got and appreciated. When we reunite I know you will say "I'm glad you got to see me again". Love you!

My heart goes out to all of you during this time of sadness. I loved Jed very much. I have so many special memories of him. I will always remember the day he tried to teach me to waterski (my first and last time!). What a sport he was that day! I will never forget him or that sweet smile.

Uncle Jed..when I think of my Uncle Jed, I hear his voice, and the way he always spoke my full name..Pamela...not many get to call me that, but he always did! He was the best uncle in every way. Our family was richer because of him, and I will miss him dearly. I love you Uncle Jed.

Uncle Jed was a loving man who cared deeply about his family. He and his brother are the only ones I ever liked calling me Red. I will miss his smile and his sincerity.
