H. Crosby Obituary

H. Louise Crosby
Feb. 15, 1931-May 8, 2011

Louise was born in Port Huron, MI and moved to Friday Harbor, WA in 1948. She married Walt on July 28, 1948 and they remained friends and lovers until she died. Walt and Louise had four sons who were their pride and joy. In 1969 Louise found recovery through a twelve step program. It was her desire to give to others what she had been given, so in 1973 she entered the treatment field, and in 1983 formed Crosby Enterprises which she ran until 1995 when she retired. After retirement Walt and Louise, along with their dog, Chica, traveled to AZ and Mexico where they enjoyed many happy adventures. In 1998 Walt and Louise celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows, followed by a trip to Europe given to them by their children.
Louise was predeceased by her parents; and her brother, Charles.
She is survived by her soul mate, friend and husband, Walt; her sons, Richard (Pam), Charles (Kim) Randall (Terri) and Patrick (Julieta); twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her brother, Bob, of Littleton, CO.
Special thanks to Denyce and Toni who were always there for her during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, please give a donation to any animal shelter of your choice.
A potluck, followed by memorial service, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 14 at the Evergreen Unitarian Church, in Beaman Hall, 4th and Columbia, Marysville, WA.

Walt - Please know I'm sad to learn of Louise's passing. You undoubtly never knew your pretty young bride taught me how to make a pot of coffee and fry fish hearts. You and Louise were almost newlyweds, living in the apartments behind King's Market. You were both working at Jackson's Cannery and needed someone to take care of baby Ricky. I couldn't have been more than 12 yrs. old at the time and was ever so happy to get the summer job. Louise came home for lunch first and asked me to make sure there was a pot of fresh coffee waiting for you when you can home for lunch. I didn't have a clue as to how to make coffee and your lovely Louise gave me an on the spot lesson...plus, instructions as to how to fry up those fish hearts! I've made a million pot of coffee since that day including some in your Mom's restaurant and many of times thought of Louise while doing so. It's amazing what we learn in our youth and the number of folks who teach us. I've shared this story many times over and had the joy of sharing it with Louise when she attended Edmonds Community College proir to my retiring from there. Louise was such a dear.

Louise, I can't imagine Walt without you by his side . . . I have no doubt that you had a profound impact on everyone who knew you because you just had that way about you. No doubt, you will always be remembered for your gentleness and kindness. I am sure that you are still with Walt and will always be with him. Not even death can prevent you from watching over him!

I had the good fortune to meet Louise early in her career of helping people with their struggle with alcohol. She bettered the lives of many of my clients and their families. I was even luckier to get to better know her, and eat lunch every Thursday with her when she joined the Sno King Exchange Club. She brought the same good heart and warm way to our club's children and education projects.

gramma, you were the best gramma anyone could ever hope for. i cant imagine the "ripple effect" your love and honest care for everyone you came in contact with has made, but im sure its more than i can imagine. You will be missed and remembered always. i feel so blessed to have known you for the wonderful woman you are. I count myself more lucky than most to have had you my whole life. Before taking my present job, I referred scores of clients to Louise for evaluations and help. Many were not eager, but all were grateful. The community is better off, and safer, for the help she willingly gave to so many in need. Please accept my condolences on her passing.

My thoughts and prayers are for all of you. Louise touched my ife deeply through her encouragement and support when I was new to the counseling industry. She taught me to believe that everyone could recover. Her laugh was infectious and I can still still her throw her head back with twinkling eyes. Thanks for sharing her with me! ginnie eburn
