Harlem Wilson Obituary

Harlem Eugene "Willie" Wilson
Nov. 17, 1934 - Jan. 10, 2011

Our beloved dad, brother, grandpa and friend passed away at his home in Arco, ID.
He leaves behind his loving family, sister, Dorothy Whitcraft (Earl); son, Rory (Terri); daughter, Cyndee Sprague (Joe); son, Roger; granddaughter, Holly Zimmerman (Dan); three stepchildren, Lisa, Becky and Tim; wife, Sandy; first wife, Patricia; his beloved dog, Ally; and countless family members and friends.
Dad was an electrician and proud member of the IBEW union for most of his life. He was a brilliant electrician and a good friend to everyone he worked with through his long career.
He made several good and dear friends after retirement. They will truly miss their companion and coffee buddy.
Although Dad was soft-spoken, he had a wonderful sense of humor and just loved to play pranks and tease his family and friends. Dad loved music and played many instruments; he was a great singer and a wonderful dancer.
He loved cars, motorcycles... anything with cool gadgets, all kinds of sports - he was a really good bowler and was up for trying anything fun!
Dad had a smile and laugh that were infectuous. He was as handsome as he was talented, and a true gentleman.
The world has lost a great man and we will treasure every memory and thought of him forever.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Myron "Bub" and Edna Wilson; his daughter, Lorelei ("Lory"); daughter-in-law, Roberta; and long-time friend, Blaine Cragun.
Dad always made his family proud and was loved by all who knew him.

Your youthfulness, your laugh, your love will be in our hearts forever.
We love and miss you, Dad.

A celebration of his life will be held this summer.

My dear father in law. I will never forget when I met you, I thought how blessed I am to be part of the Wilson family. I am so thankful for the trips that Rory & I were able to make. I remember going out to breakfast (at pickle's place) how amazed I was with the similarities between you & Rory. He is like a younger Harlem. Thank you for accepting me with open arms. You have a very special place in my heart and I thank the LORD for you giving Rory & I such a BEAUTIFUL wedding at your home. Until we meet again, Love and Prayers-Your daughter in law, Terri Wilson

I miss you grandpa so much, it still seems so unfair that we don't get more time... I just wish so badly that me and mom could hop in the car and take one of our "just us girls" trips to see our favorite guy. We loved every moment we spent with you, just hanging out hearing your laugh, seems like we never stopped smiling when you were around.
I am so blessed to have such a perfect grandpa, he was so loved by everyone who ever met him.

Love you always grandpa,
Holly

Dad,
I miss you every day. The sound of your voice, your "up" attitude and the way you always made me feel like you were proud of me and proud to be my dad. Your laugh, your kindness, your sense of humor, how easy you were to be around and how effortlessly you made life-long friends.
There is a huge hole in my heart.
I love you and miss you so very much.

I think about and miss my dad every day. I miss talking to him, hearing his laugh and just sharing my life with him. He always made me feel good and very loved.
Dad raised us without any prejudice, and we learned to treat others with respect, as he always did himself. I can honestly say I know of no person that didn't love and respect him. But.....seeing older men at his service break down and cry over losing him really hit me hard. It's a true testament of what a good man my dad was, to all who knew him. In my entire life, I never heard him even use a curse word.

My only comfort is that he is no longer suffering, although he suffered in silence...he was always feeling "pretty good".

He loved his kids, his family and his pets.

I'm so proud to be his daughter and hope I make him half as proud of me as I am of him.
Rest in peace, dad.

I love you.

Harlem was the only stable man in our lives(as both of my sister's have said) It did not matter how long it had been since we saw him last,it might as well have been the day before like there was no space of time,he was like our" big brother". He had the most infectious laugh i have ever heard.
I will miss you and will always love you!!

Cyndee and family,
I remember Harlem as such a fun loving guy, always found a way to enjoy himself. I remember loaning him my motorcycle to "run around the block" and he showed up an hour later. Just a kid at heart and kept it up through later years. Miss you.

It broke my heart when we got the call that Harlem had passed away! What a great "big brother" he was to all of us. We 3 girls mooned over that man for years. We thought he hung the moon and my so handsome. He was never to busy to talk to and pay attention to 3 little girls who had no father. I will always love and treasure his memory. Good bye dear Harlem but for a little while! Irene Zucker

Dear Cyndee and Family,
So sorry to hear of your lost. I know how much your father meant to you all. I had the great privilege of being invited out to eat with you all whenever he came to visit. He always made me feel like I was part of the family. His sense of humor was so wonderful and I always knew we would have allot of laughs when he was around. He will be greatly miss by all that knew him. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

This is such a great remembrance of my big brother. I always was and am so proud of him. Harlem found work as a boy, he seemed to have a job all the time growing up. The pride and joy of all the family and I don't remember a bad word about anyone. I will miss him .
Love always, your sister Dorothy

Never Knew they called you "Willie" you were always Harlem to us "3 little Rutledge girls" I loved you with all of my heart.
Seeing the picture of Harlem brings me back to my childhood, sitting in a rocking chair knowing that Harlem would be back to see us.
Harlem was the one steady man in our lives. He was brother, friend, all we could have asked for was wrapped up in this gentle wonderful man. I have such wonderful memories of him and even now when I smell "Old Spice" it brings Harlem back to my heart and mind. Even though I haven't seen him in years I will always love and miss him.
