July 26, 1942 - Aug. 25, 2013 Helen was born and raised in Newberg, OR with parents, Ralph and Wenona Huff and brothers, Donald and Richard Huff, all of whom are now deceased. Helen's love for the Lord blossomed at a young age while regularly attending and serving at The West Chehalem Friends Church. After graduating from high school she went on to attend college at George Fox University and soon thereafter met the love of her life, Erling "Gene" Sams whom she later married on March 20, 1964. After several moves they settled in Snohomish, WA where they lived for almost 30 years. While living in Snohomish, they were actively involved members at the First Baptist Church where Helen was known for her kind heart and devout faith. In 2004 Gene and Helen made the move to St George, UT where they enjoyed retirement living together. Helen continued to pursue her passion for knitting and crocheting and Gene remained active in sports until Gene's sudden passing in 2009. They had been happily married for 45 years. Helen then moved to San Clemente, CA to live with daughter, Traci, and family where she enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters Gracie and Madison. In 2012 Helen was diagnosed with cancer in the lower jaw and quickly sought chemo alternative treatments. While undergoing treatment in Mexico, Helen lost her battle with cancer and went to be with her Lord Jesus. Helen will forever be remembered as a devoted prayer warrior whose kindness and love toward others beautifully exemplified God's will for us all. Helen is survived by her children, Traci Schram, Greg Sams, Steve Sams, Kenny Sams; and grandchildren, Gracie, Madison, Brett, Michael, Niko, Jessika, Tabitha, Courtney, Jessica and Taylor. The Memorial Service will be held at The Bridge Church, 2500 Lake Ave., Snohomish, WA 98290 on Saturday, October 5 at 11 a.m.
