Helen Francis Ostlund

Helen, born in 1920, passed away on December 6, 2012 at the age of 92 years young! She had battled the effects of a stroke for 20 years and succumbed to heart failure.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Torchy Ostlund; and daughter, Patty (Ostlund) Allen.
She is survived by her son, Gary (Jan) of Woodway, WA; daughter, Jean Ostlund of Portland, OR; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Helen lived in the Everett area most of her life and was a member of many organizations. Most notably, she was Worthy Matron of Eastern Star and the first woman president of the Sons of Norway Lodge, Everett.
Her hands were never idle and she excelled in sewing and tailoring, ceramics, knitting and crocheting and rosemaling, to list a few. While many people have been good at these crafts, Helen made them an art form and her friends and family cherish all the mementos she passed on to them through the years.
Helen loved life and was happy almost all of the time. Unable to do a lot of things herself the last several years, Helen depended on her caregivers at Anderson House in Shoreline. She was so grateful for each and every task they did for her that she never failed to show her appreciation by a pat on the head or cheek usually accompanied by "Thank you". That loving spirit will be missed.
If you would like to foster Helen's legacy, donations may be made to the Sons of Norway Lodge #3 Scholarship Fund at 2725 Oakes, Everett, WA 98201.
A memorial gathering date is yet to be determined.
