Ilene Schroeder

Ilene Schroeder, age 67, died Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett. She was born April 19, 1943 in Sumas, WA to Peter and Ella (Timmer) Huisingh and was a 1961 Lynden Christian High School graduate. Following high school she attended nursing school; obtained her LPN degree and focused her nursing career on patient rehabilitation care. In her early years, Ilene worked in the Lynden Fair office. Her first marriage to Robert S. Buys ended and she later married Larry Schroeder on August 28, 1982 in Lynden, WA. Ilene was organist at Bethel Christian Reformed Church for a number of years and was organist and a charter member of Quincy Christian Reformed Church. Those who knew her admired her beautiful hands and fingernails.
Preceded in death by her parents and brother, Alvin Huisingh, Ilene is survived by her husband of 28 years, Larry; son, Todd (Eva) Buys and their children, Todd Jr., Eva Maria and Robert Felix, of Quincy, WA; daughter, Tonya Buys, of Snohomish, WA, and her children, Maddison and Alexandra; step-children, James, Jeff, Ron and Tammy (Ron) Griggs and their children, Brittany and Mikayla.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 29, 2011, 2 p.m., at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, 1105 Liberty St., Lynden.
