Jerie Nye Obituary

Jerie Lynn Nye

(Weldon) (Fenton)
Jerie passed away on April 7, 2011 after a graceful six-year battle with cancer.
Jerie was born in Everett, WA on March 13, 1940, the only daughter of Bill and Irene Weldon. Growing up, Jerie was known for her sparkly personality and gracious manner. She was active in her church, the Camp Fire program, served as Girls Club President and Everett Sea Gals. She was a Championship Cherry Pie Baker (although she preferred not to eat it). Jerie graduated from Everett High in 1959.
Jerie's many interests included cheering on her children and grandchildren in their many activities, making her coveted homemade raspberry jam, sewing pajamas for grandchildren and shopping. Jerie thrived on her relationships with others. She looked forward to visiting with friends and family. No matter where she went, or how far she traveled from home, she always seemed to run into someone she knew.
Jerie enjoyed traveling with friends and family. She loved navigating each motor home trip and avidly collected maps and brochures. Her favorite travels included weeks at Lake Chelan, camping in WA, a road trip across the USA, cruises to warm sunny beaches, trips to Hawaii, Mexico and wintering in Yuma, AZ with the gang.
Jerie was employed as a secretary with the Edmonds School District, where she spent time at both Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace High Schools. Her coworkers remember her as "the one who really ran the school. Unflappable, professional and supportive, she left a true reputation of kindness, leadership and "calm-in-the-face-of-anything."
Jerie is survived by her husband, Clay, of Marysville, WA. She leaves her children, Shelley (Darren) Doty and Randal Fenton; step children, Cindy (Bill) White, Stephanie (Dominique) Nye and Tim (Michelle) Nye; and 11 precious grandchildren, Bill, Taylor, Mitchell, Kaylee, Madison, Caitlyn, Megan, Kennedy, Allison, Dominic and Johari. Jerie also leaves more aunts, uncles and cousins than we can count!
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 5115 100th Street NE, Marysville on Saturday, April 30th at 11:00 a.m. Pastors Richard Gibson and John Mason will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jerie's name to Hospice of Snohomish County.

Jerie Lynn was one of the most positive people I knew as a child and young adult and who modeled for me the kind of person I wanted to be. I have such find memories of her at family get togethers growing up. Jerie Lynn helped everyone to feel welcome and included. She also had terrific recipes (brie and pepper jelly, chicken enhiladas, etc) which I still have a hand-written one from Jerie Lynn in my recipe book today.
My heart goes out to you, Clay, and all of your children. Jerie Lynn will be missed. My heartfelt sympathies - Diane Spurrier-Kuslich
