Katherine Leona Chong, age 43, passed away at her home in Monroe, WA in her sleep on February 2, 2014. She was born November 24, 1970 in Monroe, WA to Robert and Juanita Decker. She grew up in Woodinville, WA and attended class at Woodinville High School class of 1990. Kathie married Randy Chong on March 16, 1992 in Redmond, WA. Kathie and Randy had one son, Andrew, on March 22, 1990. Throughout her life, Kathie had several occupations, but spent 15 years at Fred Meyer and retired in 2007 due to medical complications from Huntington's Disease. Kathie and Randy were avid Everett Silvertips Fans and season ticket holders for many years. As a family, the Chong's loved traveling and camping trips. Kathie was preceded in death by her brother, James Decker who passed from Huntington's Disease. She is survived by her Mother and Father; her husband, Randy; son, Andrew, five brothers, five sisters, and her beloved 39 nieces and nephews. Kathie volunteered for the Snohomish County ARC. After retirement, Kathie fought in every way she could for a cure for Huntington's Disease, including medical research, volunteering, and many donations. The Chong Family requests that donations in her memory be made to the Snohomish County ARC and Northwest Chapter of the Huntington's Disease Society of America. A Celebration of Kathie's life will take place February 15, 2014, 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Monroe, WA.
