Kelton Little Obituary

Kelton Errol-Lee "KK" Little
Dec. 23, 1996 - Feb. 7, 2011

On February 7, 2011 a brave, loving, gentle, witty and thoughtful young man, full of character, lost his five year long fight with cancer.
Kelton is survived by his parents, Richard and Alanna Little; his brothers, Jeremy and Jeffrey; grandparents, Doug and June Little and Susan Stafford- Glynn; many aunts, uncles, cousins; and a niece and nephew.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Errol Glynn.
A Hero has been taken. A hero is a person of distinguished courage or ability, admired for brave deeds and noble qualities. Kelton was a hero to anyone who met him, and many people around the world that never got the chance, but knew of him through friends, family and the internet. Kelton will always be our hero.
Kelton lost his five year long battle with cancer on February 7th at home, in the loving arms of his parents, Richard and Alanna. He was born in Edmonds, Washington on December 23, 1996 as an early Christmas gift to the world. Kelton lived life every minute of his 14 short years, he was an avid baseball fan and an excellent player, making the Mukilteo Little League all star team twice. His favorite position was 2nd base, but KK would play any position with a smile, playing with his whole heart. He would always cheer on his team the entire game; win or lose, he was a great sport. At a special game in October of 2008, Kelton was not able to play due to severe pain and affects from chemo and radiation. But, he dressed for the game and was in the dugout supporting his team 100%. His team, the Black Knights, won and, as is their tradition, they all signed the game ball. Typically these 11 year old boys would chatter and fuss about who gets the game ball; not this game. As one, they presented KK with the game ball. He was their MVP. KK loved the Mariners, he was a loyal fan and was able to go to several games and special events.
KK was an excellent student and an example to others at Horizon Elementary and Olympic View Middle School. He was loved by students, teachers and staff alike. While at Horizon, Kelton was a Co-host of HOWL TV. He and his co-hosts were selected to tour the set and talk with KING5 News staff. The family would like to thank all of Kelton's dear friends and educators at Horizon and Olympic for all the support and love they showered on Kelton. He loved you all.
During Kelton's battle, several different groups and individuals held fund raisers and events to help with the astronomical costs of this type of fight, and to give himself and his family strength for his battle. There are too many people to thank individually here. One of Kelton's school mates coordinated a "Kar wash for Kelton" at Horizon, they contacted 710KIRO, where DJ's Ron and Don broadcasted live on location. It was a very moving event for everyone involved. Kelton was also honored by the Washington Army National Guard; he got to ride in a Bradley Fighting Vehicle and a Chinook Helicopter, and was given the honorary rank of Sergeant Major. At Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, he was "adopted" by the Nascar Whelen Mini-stock division; he got to lead pace laps and was presented with a helmet signed by all the drivers and a trophy. He also picked the winner of the race and was rewarded by the race being dedicated to him and the driver, Mark Weedin, giving KK his trophy. Another event was "the Little Ride", a Motorcycle ride up Steven's Pass to Leavenworth, WA.
KK enjoyed traveling. He was able to go to Walt Disney World in Florida thanks to the Make a Wish Foundation. He made a trip with his family to Thailand and New Orleans. Some of his favorite places to camp were Leavenworth and Sun Lakes with friends and family.
Kelton was treated by the wonderfully compassionate and professional staff of Dr. Park at Seattle Children's hospital. The family is eternally grateful for all of their exceptional care.
Kelton Errol-Lee Little fought his valiant battle against cancer for over four years. During that long battle he touched so many lives with his bravery, courage, compassion and thoughtfulness of others. He was always so thankful for everyone visiting with him and caring. He was a gracious host until the very end. Kelton never complained about his fight and was strong in his faith. When asked if he was scared, he would reply with "this is Destiny, God wants me to fight this cancer and is giving me strength when I am scared". What Kelton was most concerned about was his family and how difficult it was for his parents to have to go through all of the pain and heartache. Kelton never gave up his fight until he was certain that his Mom and Dad would be able to cope with him being gone.
KK, while dealing with great adversity, constantly displayed more character than most would in a similar fight. Kelton's character has inspired many and has left a legacy of strength for anyone who knew him to remember and strive to live up to. His distinguished courage throughout the battle gave many strength to face their own challenges; he set a noble example for anyone to aspire to emulate.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Parish located at 8517 7th Ave. SE, Everett, WA at 11 a.m. on February 19, followed by internment at Evergreen Cemetery.
A celebration of his life, strength and courage will be held the same day, 2:30 p.m., Mariner High School's gymnasium, Lynnwood.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, you each make a conscious effort to get out and do something to fight cancer and support those with the disease to honor KK.
Suggestions are: Volunteer for the Make a Wish Foundation; become a bone marrow donor through organizations like DKMS at getswabbed.org, participate in the Susan G. Komen 3 Day or, of course, donate to your favorite cancer fighting organization.

Kelton it was an honor to Have known you for the few years that I have. My greatest Memories are the day I brought you and and your Family to The Army National Guard Base, That day was the best day of my life and Army Career and the following years after that I got to spend with you and your family. It was my Honor to Be at your Funeral and be apart of the Honor Guard that was there. They wanted to be there and to do this for you, like my Col has said there was never a second thought on any of our parts you were a Soldier and was part of the Army National Guard family and you will always be apart of our Military family.

I'd like the memory of me
to be a happy one
I'd like to leave an after glow
of smiles when life is done
I'd like to leave an echo
whispering
softly down the ways
Of happy times and laughing
times
and bright and sunny days
I'd like the tears of those who
grieve,
to dry
before the sun
Of happy memories that I leave,
When life is done.

I don't know the author of this lovely poem. But, I saw your posting on facebook and thought this may give you a little smile. I am sorry for the loss of you child.

Dear Little Family. You dont know me personally but my son Michael Wilkinson was a host with Kelton on Howl TV. We were there for the car wash and other fund raisers. My husband still states it was one of the greatest days of his life knowing he was there helping a boy who fought so hard for life. We moved to New Mexico once Michael and Kelton hit Middle School. We continued to follow Kelton's fight and wear our bracelets daily as a tribute to such a wonder young man. The morning of KK's passing Michael's cell phone started blowing up with text messages as he has always kept in touch with former classmates and inquired about KK on a regular basis. We both just cried and spoke about how brave KK was and how proud of him we were. I as a mother look up to both Alana and Richard for their courage and strengh thru all of the challenges they faced. I didnt know KK personally but I can say "I loved that little boy"! God Bless the family and relatives of the Little clan! Which were thousands!
