Leslie Martin Obituary

Leslie J. Martin

Leslie J. Martin "Les" "Buzz"/"Buzzy" Martin, 68, died January 25, 2011 from bladder cancer in Everett, Washington.
He was born September 21, 1942 to Eva Catlin Martin and Leslie Lafayette Martin in Snohomish General Hospital.
He was a lifelong resident of the Snohomish area. His pioneer grandfather, Henry Martin, homesteaded in 1900 at Thomas Lake, what is now in the city of Mill Creek, Washington. He also was proud of his maternal grandmother, who was an Indian princess in the Cowlitz Tribe.
Recently, he also was proud of his role in preventing the City of Snohomish from building its new senior center on top of the old pioneer/American Indian cemetery on Cypress Avenue. (The city ultimately spent $300,000 in its foiled attempt at the Cypress Avenue cemetery.)
He attended Snohomish schools and served his country in the U.S. Army and Washington Army National Guard, 1961-1967.
Per his request, there will be no services. Arrangements by the Neptune Society. A remembrance reception will be announced at a later date.
Many thanks to the staff at Forest View Transitional Care Center and Providence Hospice for their kindness and compassion these past few weeks.
He will be truly missed by many, including a special friend, Kay Stahl.
A quote from President Barack Obama: "What matters on this earth is not wealth or power or status, but rather, how well we have loved."
