April 14, 1933 – January 16, 2014 Mary Ann (Doll) Eis, a San Ramon artist and author of Art in a Nutshell, died peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2014 while in hospice care in Dublin, CA. She was born to Clarence and Hannah (Alseth) Doll Hebert. After High School graduation (Everett '51) she entered the Sisters of the Holy Cross order and earned her BA and teaching credentials from St Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana. As Sister Anne Clarice she taught in many Catholic Schools in Northern California, Utah and Arizona. After leaving the convent she met Fred Eis and celebrated 41 years of marriage until his death in 2011. Mary Ann is survived by five step-children: Julie Millstein of NYC, Barbara Yang of Sacramento, CA, Fred Eis, Jr. of Bristol, CT, Mary Branch of Gilroy, and William Eis of Castro Valley; many grandchildren and great- grandchildren; and her nieces, Rosanne Goulet and Rochelle Rubatino. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her parents; and her sister, Eileen Rubatino. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
