Mary Isabelle Walling, 84, passed away at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care, Hilo, HI on September 9, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. She was born on August 2, 1929 in Oakland, CA. After graduating from Bell High School, she married the late Robert R. Walling on March 12, 1949 and lived in both Northern and Southern California in her early years. Mary moved to Missouri for a short time before settling in Washington State in 1960. She worked as a bookkeeper most of her life before starting her own knitting business, Small World of Yarns, in Seattle, WA in 1984. Mary was a multi-talented individual, excelling in both hand and machine knitting and crocheting. She was also an accomplished musician. After living in Seattle for 35 years, Mary moved to Everett in 1995 and lived at Lago de Plata Mobile Home Park. Mary loved to travel and enjoyed a very busy social life with her friends and family. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Everett and held the position of President of the Guild for two years. Mary moved to Hawaii in 2010 to be with her eldest daughter, Cheryl. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph L. and Daisy M. Myers; her husband, Robert R. Walling; and her son, Michael R. Walling. Survivors include four children, Cheryl I. Nelson, Volcano, HI; Billie J. Villarrubia (Leon), Arcadia, CA; Julie A. Pemberton (Roy), Everett and Larry C. Walling (Becky), Kalispell, MT. Mary also had six grandchildren, Scott, Robert, Rachel, Brianna, Andy and Hannah; one great-grandchild, Mikey; as well as a large extended family. Mary's final interment will be at Evergreen-Washelli in Seattle. Memorial service arrangements are pending.
