Maxine Marie Popps
Maxine Marie Popps was called home to the Lord March 16, 2011 after a 41- year battle with diabetes.
She was born in Tacoma January 27, 1930.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lilly Stuart; sister, Myrtle; and husband of 47 years, George Popps.
Maxine is survived by her son, George Popps; grandson, Josh Popps; adopted daughter, Gerri Blondeel; and best friend, Glenrose Williams.
Mom was a 1948 graduate of Sultan High and was very active and a leader for many years in community affairs - past president of the Gold Bar Garden Club, Secretary and Treasurer of the Gold Bar Community Club, past president of the P.T.A. for old School District 84, Den Mother for Pack 78 Cub Scouts, reporter for he Valley News, and a founding member of the Valley General Hospital Guild. She and George Reiman led the fight to get an Aid Car in Gold Bar in 1971. Always active in the Democratic party, she encouraged independent thinking and freedom of choice.
In Mom's later years, she continued to enjoy baking, gardening and good conversation. Always solid in her belief of Jesus Christ, as of lately was member of Midnight Cry Christian Fellowship.
A celebration of life will be announced in the future.
We would like to thank everyone involved with Mom's care, in particular, Gold Bar Fire District 26 and Providence Hospice (and thanks again, Pastor Dean).

I am so sorry to hear about Maxine passing away. Having lived across the street while growing up, I must say Maxine always had a smile and was a very sweet and caring person. My memories of her will be a treasure to carry always. Fern

I shared the same b-day with Max and thru the years we always called each other to say Happy B-day!Her advice & faith in people will be missed! A true legend in her own right!I will miss her!
