Pauline Cushman Obituary

Pauline Frances (McFarland) Cushman

Pauline Cushman was born June 25, 1918 in Victoria, BC to Paul and Frances McFarland. She was the oldest of 11 children and lived all of her life in the State of Washington. She grew up in Seattle, graduating from Broadway High School in 1934. During her school years, Pauline met and dated Floyd Cushman, worked as a bookkeeper and sales person, and helped raise her 10 siblings.
In 1938 Floyd and Pauline were married and Pauline began working for Societe' Candy, dipping chocolates. The couple had two children, Judith Ann and Jeffrey Alan. In 1950 the family moved to Silver Lake in South Everett. Pauline started a 24 year career as an elementary school secretary in the Everett School District, retiring in 1978. Following retirement, Pauline and Floyd kept their roots in the greater Everett area, but traveled the USA in their "MiniWini" motor home.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd (1994); and eight of her siblings.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy; son, Jeff (Sue); five grandchildren: Kari Nawa (Tom), Corinne Rossman (Jim), Camille Schalka (Ron), Kelli Putnam (Tim), and Stefani Tweedy (Derek); 13 great grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pauline was a very caring person and the matriarch of the family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A celebration of life is being planned for June, 2011.

Jeff and Judy,
Your mom was not only one of my favorite aunts, but also an inspiration to me. I will truly miss "Number One", as I used to teasingly call her. She was a great lady.

Jeff,
When I read this I think of how many times my deceased Husband Darrel Goins spoke about you. He had many fond memories growing up around Silver Lake, going to the Silverlake Skate arean swimming in silver lake and how much he thought of his friends and their parents. I know he would have expressed his saddness at your loss.

Jeff, Judy and family, Visiting with Pauline at our family gatherings were delightful. She was always so cheerful, joyful and happy. We also remember her picking up Rappy, John's grandmother to take her to Lodge meetings, so our rememberances go back over 55 years! God bless all of you with precious memories of Pauline.
