Richard Louis Bates III

Our beautiful son Richard Louis Bates III passed away, at home, with family and friends at his side on January 24, 2013. He loved being with family and friends.
He was born on May 19, 1986, in Seattle, WA to Richard Bates and Teresa Knechtel Bates.
He is survived by his parents; his sister, Amanda; Grandma Jausma; and special cousin and near-sister, Sydney; aunts and uncles: Steve (Nancy); and Kerry (David); Mark; Kristi (Craig); Marianne (Bob); Pixie (Bob); Bruce (Kim); and Pam; as well as many cousins.
Ricky is now with his Uncle Don; and several grandparents.
Ricky spent a lot of time with and loved his very special friends: Adam; Elionel; Vishal; Andrew; Sara; Erina; and David.
He graduated from Pilchuck High School. He was an Eagle Scout, elected to the Order of the Arrow, was an inspiration to both Scouts and leaders. He loved traveling (Hawaii was a favorite destination) and he was always planning something. He loved going to the movies. He was a loyal Seahawks fan. He spent many fun weeks at MDA camp and Camp Promise with special friends. Very special thanks to Dr Bruce Lin and staff at Virginia Mason Hospital for your exemplary care.
A service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church 7215 51st Ave, Marysville, WA Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 2:30 p.m.
