Richard Olin Clark

Richard Clark passed away quietly on October, 28, 2012 at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, WA, at the age of 83.
Richard was born to Jenny and Charles Clark on June 7, 1929, in Detroit, MI, and was raised in Longview, WA. He graduated from R.A. Long High School, attended Lower Columbia (Junior) College before attending the University of Washington where he graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He married his sweetheart, Donna, in June 1952, before serving two years in the U.S. Air Force as a Lieutenant. He continued on as a Captain in the Air Force Reserves. He worked for Reynolds Metals for 35 years, before retiring from the Longview plant in 1987. He lived with Multiple Sclerosis for over 50 years, embracing life with such gentleness and compassion for others. A former college athlete, Richard enjoyed watching sports on television. He died knowing that the UW beat OSU in college football, and passed quietly within the hour following the last game of the World Series.
Richard is preceded in death by both his parents; and his wife, Donna.
He is survived by his sister, Wilma Erickson of Seattle, WA; son, Steve (Lisa) of Bishop, TX; and grandchildren: Kendra, Jeff, Trisha, Kyle and two great grandchildren; daughter, Sandy Jones (Tom) of Mill Creek, WA; and grandchildren: Philip and Alison; sister-in-law, Dorothy Huggins of Burlington, WA; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Longview Memorial Park Funeral Home on Monday, November 5, 2012 at 12 noon.
