Robert Garrie Hartman

Robert Garrie Hartman, 88, passed away Friday, March 4, 2011 surrounded by his family.
Bob was born September 29, 1922 to his parents Mima and Garrie Hartman and has been a lifelong resident of Everett. He graduated from Everett High School and participated in World War II by enlisting in the U.S. Army. Upon his return, he met Mary Jane Best and they were wed on November 17, 1946. Since then, they have celebrated 64 years of marriage. Bob built his own home in 1947 and lived there with his family all his adult life. He was very proud of his home and took good care of it.
Bob was very active in the Boy Scouts of America with his sons and helped reinforce those core values not only in his sons but in many other young men as well.
Bob retired from the U.S. Post Office after 33 years and started his own landscaping business. He retired from the landscaping profession when he was 70. Bob immensely enjoyed the landscaping business and the creativity it allowed. He was a proud recipient of the Monte Cristo Neighborhood Award.
Bob was an honorable man who worked hard, respected his fellow man and loved his friends and family. He will be sorely missed.
Bob is survived by his wife, Mary; sister, June McMurray; son, John and daughter-in-law, Sallie; granddaughter, Marisa Hartman and her husband, David Waltman; granddaughter, Mindy Hartman; and grandson, Greg Hartman and his wife, Jessica.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Mima and Garrie and by two sons, Stan and Steve.
His family will always be grateful for the accomplished and caring staff at Providence Colby Campus. They are an incredible group of dedicated people.
