Ronald J. EnglishRon was born in Snohomish, WA to Melvin and Edith English. He grew up in town and graduated from Snohomish High School.
Oct 21, 1939 - July 20 2013
He worked at the Simpson Lee paper mill for many years before it closed, then went to work for the Snohomish County airport at Paine field, where he worked as a supervisor and electrician for 32 years.
Ron married Carol Davenport in 1959 and had two sons, Ken and Kevin. They built a house in Machias, where he lived for 40 or more years. Around the house there wasn't much he couldn't build or fix, and he was pretty good at car repair or rebuilds too. Ron would also be found in his garden throughout the spring and summer. His corn will certainly be missed. He liked his time with family and friends, be it a BBQ, drifting the Pilchuck river, fishing trips to Canada or on the sound.
Ron also enjoyed hunting, camping, big family road trips to California to see family, or just taking a drive around the countryside. He coached little league baseball and all star teams. He enjoyed road trips out of state with his close friend George Menzel. In his middle years he took up golf and had a horrible back-swing with lots of wrist, but it got the job done and he had many a great time golfing with many family and friends, usually settling up his bingo-bango-bongo debt at the 19th hole.
Ron wasn't a big gambler as he was a little tight with his wallet, but liked an occasional black jack table, video poker, or pull tabs.
Ron leaves sons, Ken (Karen) and Kevin (Lisa), brother, Laverne (Jayleen); grandchildren, Cory, Alicia, Ashlie, Jennifer, Brandon; great-grandchildren, Mara and Jesse; and many nieces and nephews.
At Ron's request no formal service is planned.
