Roy John Colin Young

Roy Young was born on November 23, 1925 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He was an only child of Grace and Leighton Young. Roy graduated from high school in White Rock, B.C. He served in the Canadian Navy for three years.
In 1949 Roy moved to the United States. He lived and worked in the Everett and Marysville, WA areas. He met and married, Gloria Joy Ellingsen, in 1950. They were blessed with four daughters, Karen, Sharen, Carol and LeeAnn.
Roy worked as a carpenter and built many beautiful homes in the Everett, Marysville and Oak Harbor, WA areas. He was an avid fisherman, loved boating and restoring antique cars. Roy and family have lived on Whidbey Island for 46 years.
Roy passed away on April 13, 2011 at Regency on Whidbey with family by his side.
Roy is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joy; their four daughters, Karen Kackman (Craig), Sharen Rivera (Ken), Carol Buck Moen and Lee Ann Kelley (Rob); six grandchildren, Shelyse, Brent, Emrie, Colin, Jason and Marisa; and three great-grandchildren, Madeline Joy, Colton and Chayce; also, by dear loved ones, Keely, Chris and Brianna; and by cousins, Mary and George.
Roy was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
No formal funeral services will be conducted. A celebration of Roy's life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are with the assistance of Whidbey Memorial, 746 NE Midway Blvd., Oak Harbor, WA 98277.
