Ruie Skinner Obituary

Ruie Anne Skinner
Dec 21, 1911 - Mar 5, 2011

Ruie Anne Skinner, 99, passed away peacefully in Everett after a brief illness.
She was born in Bartlesville, OK to Walter and Eleanor Brest. She moved to Seattle as a young child and grew up on Phinney Ridge. She graduated from Lincoln High School at age 16 and from Bellingham Normal School at age 18. She then started teaching in the city of Shelton, WA.
She married Daniel (Don) Skinner on January 1, 1935 in Seattle. Ruie and Don lived in Ballard and owned and operated Don's Grocery for approximately 25 years. From early childhood Ruie attended the Woodland Park Presbyterian Church where later she and Don were active members of the Clipper Club; she continued her involvement long after he passed in 1972.
Ruie was preceded in death by her loving husband Don and her brothers Bud and John.
She is survived by daughters, Kay Trumbull of Everett and Pat Christian of Marysville; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Ruie touched and inspired so many people and has left a wonderful legacy. We were fortunate to have her for so long... 99 years, two months and 12 days!
Special thanks to Dr. Ann Begert and Angel's Adult Family Home for their kind and gentle care of Ruie.
At Ruie's request no funeral services will be held.
Family will observe a private remembrance at the graveside and invites all friends to join them for an informal Celebration of Ruie's Life at Kay's home on Sat. Mar 12 from noon to 2:00pm. Call Kay 425-337-1824 or Pat 360-658-1379.
Arrangements being handled by Evergreen Washelli, Seattle.
