Samuel Moyer Obituary
Samuel Nelson Moyer
He graduated from Marysville High School in 1997 and from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in 2002. He was a resident of Gramercy, LA. He was the Assistant Pastor of First Assembly of God LaPlace, LA for seven years. He was also a licensed minister with the Assemblies of God. He worked tirelessly to let others know God's great love.
He is survived by his loving wife of nine years, Roxanne Moyer; his parents, Edward and Mary Moyer of Marysville, WA; his sister, Sarah (Jason) Caldwell; and his brother, Eric Moyer; also his in-laws, Wayne and Dorothy Guidry of LaPlace, LA; brother-in-law, Chad (Tonya) Guidry; sisters-in-law, Candice (Dennis) Clancy and Theresa (Casey) Madere; his nieces and nephews, Iris and Esther Caldwell, Dylan Johnson, Donald (DJ) McLean, Cheyenne, Connor and Rita Guidry, Harvey and Michael Madere.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at First Assembly of God, 3001 Hwy. 61, LaPlace, LA. Pastor Curtis Porche, officiating. There will be a gravesite service on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John Memorial Garden of LaPlace, LA. Bardell's Mortuary of Mt. Airy, LA in charge. Information: (985) 535-6837.

I went to high school with sam. I was sad to hear of his passing. He always had a glow about him, like he was special.. we'll, after i got to know him I relized he was a very special person. He had a kind and gental spirit that I wish I had. I am glad i got the chance to call him my friend.

Every once in a while an extraordinary person comes into our lives who just turns our world upside down. For me, that was Sam Moyer. He loved me like a brother and would always be there just when I needed someone to talk to. I thank God everyday for allowing Sam to be a part of my life. I have come to love you and the memories of your family over the years.
I am devastated to know about Sams passing. It is not natural for a child to pass before their parents. I can't even imagine your pain!
It is comforting to know that he loved Christ and he wanted to share his love with others. I will pray for peace for you, your husband and his family during this time of grief.

Roxanne, we are so deeply sorry for the loss of your beloved Sam. So young, so much to live for. One of those things we don't understand. One thing we do know, trust the Lord in everything. I only worked with Sam for a short time at Bayou Steel but for that short time I can honestly say that he was one of the greatest guys there. We would always share stories about how we met our wives and laughed and joked. My thoughts and prayers are with the Moyer family. R.I.P. Sam

Although I didn't get to know Mr. Sam I was by his side the night that he was injured in laplace. I pray that his family and friends be kept in close with God durning this difficult time. My heartfelt sympathies go to all of his family.

I remember Sam from when he must have been 4 & I was 10 running around all the nooks & crannies of Arlington A/G (of which there are so many) :-) My last memory was a delightful awareness of what a preacher & minister he had become. Sam let his light shine before men, now he is glorifying his father which is in heaven.

My heart has been heavy all week as I have thought about Sam and his struggle. Sam was a great friend and as my wife and I would come to preach at the church, I always looked forward to our conversations about life and ministry. The last time I was with Sam, he gave me a copy of a message he had preached on cd that he was especially proud of. It will now be a keepsake. To Roxanne and all the family, please know we are praying. For the church family, these are difficult things, but God will get you through. We love you all.
