Scott Smith

Scott Smith passed away peacefully April 23, 2013 at Providence Hospital in Everett. He is survived by his two daughters,, Nancy Jensen and Mary Horman and three grandchildren, Ruth, Molly and Martin. Scott was born February 1, 1925 in South Bend, WA. The Smith family arrived in Everett in 1931. He enlisted in the Navy shortly after graduation and served in the Pacific as a Gunner's Mate First Class on the U.S.S. Edmonds. In 1947 Scott was the quarterback on the Everett Community College undefeated football team which was inducted into the EVCC Hall of Fame in 2009.
He met and married
Bertha Forsgren, in February 1950. Scott graduated from Western Washington University and taught for over thirty years, the majority of which were in the Everett School District. He was a history teacher and football coach at Evergreen Middle School from 1960-1982.
Upon retirement, Scott took up wood carving of water fowl and song birds. He enjoyed this activity for 20 years.
Scott will be missed by not only his family and friends but by the many people he has touched in the community as a teacher, mentor and coach.
A Celebration of Scott's life will be planned later this summer.
