Thelma Rose (Kerber) Fosse

Thelma Rose (Kerber) Fosse of Everett, passed away quietly Saturday, February 5, 2011. She was born Thelma Rose Gilje on January 18, 1913 in Rolette, North Dakota to Thorvald and Ragna Gilje.
Thelma and her family moved to Chicago in 1927 where she graduated high school from Austin High. She met husband to be, Louis Kerber, on January 12, 1934 at a skating rink. They were engaged on Christmas in 1935 and were married May 29, 1937. After moving to Seattle, WA they welcomed their first child, James, followed five years later by Cheryl. Thelma worked for 20 years at the Snohomish County Courthouse as a secretary to the purchasing agent retiring in 1976.
Lou passed away in 1972. She married Ray Fosse in 1983 and Ray passed away in 1991.
She enjoyed traveling with her family and was an active member at Central Lutheran Church for over 60 years. Thelma's greatest pleasures were found in her family and her Church.
Thelma is survived by her son, James Kerber, of Seattle; her daughter and best friend, Cheryl (Dave) Oczkewicz, of Bothell, WA; a brother, Walter Gilje, of Seattle; a grandson; and a great-granddaughter.
She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Marvel, Mamie and Esther.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 11, 2011 at Central Lutheran Church, 2702 Rockefeller, Everett. A reception will follow downstairs in the Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC, 28607 which was very dear to Thelma's heart.

I knew Thelma as a strong, compassionate woman who loved her family and gave of herself for the benefit of others. I will treasure my memories of her and the love she showed to my family, especially my son.
