Verna Irving Obituary

Verna L. Irving

Verna L. Irving, age 87, of Ephrata, WA, formerly of Marysville, WA, went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2011. Verna was born on October 1, 1923 in Dodge City, KS to Harry and Fanny Dunkin.
She and her husband, James C. Irving III married in Dodge City on April 21, 1945 and relocated to California shortly after. In 1964, they moved to Marysville, and raised their family. From 1967 to 1976 they owned and operated James C. Irving Funeral Home. Until 1988, she and her husband worked in the funeral business in various capacities in Snohomish County and then relocated to Ephrata to operate Nicoles Funeral Home.
She loved the Lord, her family and the community she lived in. Though her immediate family was small, she had a large circle of friends. She loved to laugh, buy shoes and spend time with those she loved. Verna was a Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Red Hat Society.
Verna was preceded in death by her two siblings, parents and her beloved husband, James C. Irving III.
She is survived by her daughters, Janice (Mark) Harmon - Niehenke and Susan (James) Smith, both of Ephrata; grandchildren, Amie (Bill), Lynsey (Jeremy), Kevin (Courtney), Eric, Tyler, Heidi (Brandon), Greg (Lisa), Jeff, Adam (Jamie) and Lynn; and great-grandchildren, Landen, Kaleb, Madison, Jaxon, Gavin, Carter, Carson, and Christian; Parker-William will join the family in August of this year.
A celebration of Verna's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 1, 2011 at the United Methodist Church, 117 C Street NW, Ephrata, WA. Viewing will be prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m., also at the church. Concluding service and internment will follow in the Ephrata City Cemetery.
