Our beautiful and loving mother, Viola Ida Deffries, 87, passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 3, 2014, after losing a courageous eight year battle with cancer. Vi was born on August 27, 1926 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI to Sam and Ida Erickson. At age 10, the family moved to Machias, WA where she attended grade school and graduated from Snohomish High School in 1944. On March 2, 1946, she married the 'Love of her Life', Army. Air/Corp Sgt. George 'Joe' Deffries. They resided in Everett for 34 years, making the children and their families the center of their lives. In 1980, they moved to Snohomish and Vi retired from Scott Paper. They lived a very active life style~golfing, bowling, camping, traveling, gardening and a passion for dancing at Normanna. In 1987, mom unexpectedly lost her loving husband of 41 years. Mom is survived by her sister, Lorraine Snyder; two daughters, Sandra Cole (Russ) and Gail Hammond (Steve); two sons, Daniel Deffries (Vickie) and Steven Deffries; many nieces and nephews; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mom was preceded in death by our father, her parents, seven brothers, one sister and precious grand-daughter, Nikki. Mom's family wishes to thank Providence Hospice team and Cancer Alliance for their exceptional care. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the . A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Snohomish, WA at 3:00 p.m. Our parents are together again in Heaven~Though Mom and Dad have passed, they are still there in every flower and every memory~ They will live forever in our hearts.
