Wallace Nelson Obituary

Wallace E. Nelson

Wally passed away on March 29, 2011 at Mt. Carmel Hospital in Colville, WA. He was born on September 13, 1931 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Bill and Agnes Nelson.
Wally graduated from Lake Stevens High School in 1949. He joined the United States Navy in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1955. Upon returning home to Lake Stevens, Wally resumed his professional trade as a bricklayer. He took pride in being a true craftsman and his work was appreciated by all.
Wally married Rosetta Butler in 1958. They made their home in Lake Stevens where they raised their three children. Upon retiring, they moved to Rice, WA where they built their dream home overlooking Lake Roosevelt. Wally and Rose enjoyed fishing, working in their garden, spending time with their family and helping their many neighbors and friends.
Wally is survived by his wife, Rose; son, Tracy Nelson; daughters, Brook (Greg) Ostrom and Angie Nelson; grandchildren, Brittany Ostrom, Shawn Nelson and Megan Nelson; sisters, Irene (Arnold) Wiggum and Bernice Malme; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Nelson; and brother-in-law, Maurice Malme.
One of Wally's most recent and important projects was the volunteer work he did on the Rice Fire Station. Memorials may be sent to Fire District 12, in care of JoAnne Hendricks, P.O. Box 7, Rice, WA 99167.
At his request, no services will be held.
Our family would like to express our deepest appreciation to Dr. Bacon and the second floor staff of Mt. Carmel Hospital for the gentle and compassionate way they cared for Dad and all of us during this difficult time.

Rose and family,

I am so sorry about Wally. It is never easy. Your family has had a lot of sorrow recently, with Mary, Lisa and now Wally. Time does help but when you have been with someone so long it is very hard. Take care.
