Walter Cooper Obituary


Walter Howard Cooper

Walter Cooper of Marysville, WA passed away February 22, 2011 from kidney failure and pneumonia.
Walt was born in Forks, WA to Claude and Christine Cooper on October 26, 1930 they moved to Everett, WA when he was 12 years old and he was educated in Everett, graduating from Everett High in 1949. Walt started playing baseball and played for the Everett Blue Jays, signed with St. Lewis Browns, and lost a week of training from blood poisoning from a blister and then he was sent home. Walt joined the U.S. Air Force in 1950 and spent his time in Texas and California. He joined the Everett Fire Department in 1959 for 27 years, 17 of those were Fire Marshall, retiring in 1986.
Walt was past commander of American Legion, Earl Faulkner Post 6, trustee for the international passing of the Gavel between the U.S. and Canada, and life member of the Everett Elks 479.
Walt leaves behind his wife, Lu; two step-daughters, Tammie and Trina; five step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandboys; his sister, Helen and her husband, Willey; and several nieces and nephews.
Walt was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Christine; two sisters, Betty and Lillian.
At Walt's request, there will be no services. Cremation by Solies Funeral Home and Crematory.
Remembrances may be sent to the Washington State Volunteer Firefighter.

Lu,
All of my sympathy to you. Memories of times past with you and Walt at EFD functions are pleasant ones to remember. They were good times.

Lu and Family,
I'm sorry to hear of Walt's passing. I have many fond memories of working with Walt. He and I started with EFD about the same time. He was one ahead of me on the seniority list.
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
