Zela Burstad Obituary

Zela (Jones) Burstad

Zela Burstad, age 110, passed away on March 19, 2004 at the Merry Haven Health Care Center in Snohomish WA where she has been a resident since 1995.
She was born October 7, 1893, the fourth of eight children, to Robert and Eska Pearson, near Park River North Dakota. Zela moved from Bend, OR and settled in the Florence Acres area near Monroe in 1925, moved back to North Dakota in the late forties and returned here in 1964 settling in Everett where she resided until moving to the care center.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Olaf Burstad on February 21, 1975; her six brothers; her son-in-law Stuart Trombley; granddaughter Carrine Trombley Blair; and great-grandson Bret Willard.
Survivors include all her children, daughter Mrs. Leona Trombley of Monroe, WA, and sons, Roland (Ella) Jones of Bremerton WA and Daniel (Jean) Jones of Everett WA; one sister living in Tomah, WI; 10 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 40 great great grandchildren; two great great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
On Thanksgiving of 2002, she celebrated with six generations attending, the latest a great great great grandchild born to Grady Trombley.
Many thanks to the staff of Merry Haven Health Care Center for the care given during her residency at their facility.
Her close friends include Connie Ennis (activity director), Pat Deucet (staff supervisor) from Merry Haven, and Vickey Hyde from Marysville.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 24th at 1:00pm at Purdy & Kerr Funeral Home, Monroe WA. The Services will conclude in the chapel.
The Family requests memorials in her honor be directed to the "Activity Director" at Merry Haven Health Care Center located at 800 Tenth St, Snohomish, WA 98290.
