Vera Louise Rooney passed away February 7, 2014 surrounded by family. She was born January 9, 1940 on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in Browning, Montana. She was very proud of her Indian heritage and loved the stories and lore she learned from her parents, Jack and Virginia Kennedy. She often remarked that she found her mission in life in May 1986. Her mission: To be a grandmother and she gave it all to those beloved grandkids. She leaves behind her best love, husband Dick. The two of them were glued together at the hip. They enjoyed traveling, dancing, golfing, movies and family. They leave behind two daughters, Ginny (Gins) Woodhouse (Jeff); Val (The Monkey) Murray (Mark); grandson, Alex (Stretch, Big Boy) Woodhouse; grandson, Eric Woodhouse (irrepressible imp); only granddaughter, Brynn Canales (Montana) (yes, Brynn took full advantage of her status as the only granddaughter. Ha!); grandson, Joel (Banana) Murray; and then grandson, Cade (Cadelicious) Murray. Besides personal travels, they loved taking their grandkids on trips and enjoyed the 10 years they spent as a family at Squaw Rock Resort during the summer. They enjoyed endless hours of card games with the family and grandkids who still came to grandma and grandpa's to play cards. She had a vast knowledge of music of most kinds, loved to read and often wished she would have pursued writing. She left behind many journals and well cataloged family photo albums. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Virginia Kennedy; nephews, Terry Hope, Greg Garton and Dwayne Garton. She is survived by three sisters, Doreen Carlson, Carol Spalding and Mary Schooley. She leaves behind many loved friends and relatives. Funeral services will be held at Purdy & Walters, Wednesday, February 12; viewing at 10:00 a.m. Service at 11:00 a.m.
