Muriel Jackson born August 26, 1913 of Ebey Island, WA passed away peacefully on April 19, 2014. Muriel (Mickey) enjoyed all of her 100 years on Ebey Island. She was predeceased by her parents; Norman and Cora Newell and her siblings; Ellen, Pearl, Thora (George), Nial (Merne), Bud (Evelyn) as well as niece and nephew; Irene Camp Newell and Tom Newell. She leaves behind her sister-in-law, Evelyn Newell; nieces: Marlene Westwong (Glen), Nancy Stanton (Mike); nephews, George Romano (Laurie), Jim Newell (Susan); stepson, Larry Jackson (Sherry) and family: Joann, (Glen deceased), Elaine, Dennis (Norine) and Gracie, and Charlie. She also has numerous grandnephews and nieces, as well as many good neighbors and friends. Mickey was heavily involved in the 1st Baptist Church, the Everett Eagles and the Normana Ladies Club. She contributed to many charities, enjoyed hunting and fishing, hiking and gardening, sewing, canning, cooking, horseback riding and dancing. Throughout her career she worked as a clerk, a Rosie Riveter shipyard welder, a beautician, a berry picker, a school bus driver. She completed her employment career with Community Transit and retired at 70 years old. She asked that her service be "short and sweet, no fuss, no muss, and that you should be happy". The service will be comprised of the stories and memories you bring to share. Services will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Purdy & Walters, 1702 Pacific Ave, Everett, WA, (425)252-2191. Visitation: 2:00 - 3:00 p.m., Funeral Service: 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. Coffee and cookie reception following service.
