Sandy passed away peacefully and comfortably into everlasting life on April 18, 2014. She was born March 28, 1956 to her parents, Bill and Elizabeth Long in Merced, California. Being a Navy brat during her early years, her family spent time at various duty stations before settling into the Everett area for good. After graduation from high school, Sandy became a hair dresser for several years. It was during this time she met and married her husband, Jeff. Upon his discharge from the Marine Corps they settled into the Marysville area to live and raise their family. Sandy was a devoted wife and loving mother to their two children. To be a stay at home mom, Sandy started her wonderful twenty five year career with Marshall Elementary in the Marysville School District training as a ParaPro she started assisting Jim Jenson in the Classroom. Together they taught hundreds of special needs children to see with new eyes, hear with open ears, and to think new original thoughts. To many students from years ago, Sandy was the "Crossing Guard Lady", and many and young man and woman would approach her and tell her that's how they remembered her. School Staff and friends always loved her infectious smile and gentle nature. All who knew her were aware of the many health issues she faced for the last fifteen years of her life. Sandy faced all of them straight on, with strength and dignity, but she couldn't overcome the debilitating stroke and its complications from which she suffered in May of 2013. Sandy is survived by her loving husband, Jeff; son, Stephen; daughter, Kimberly; and Kim's son, our dear little Evan; daughter-in-law, Tiffany; brothers-in-law, Marcel, Pete and Bob; sisters-in-law, Lisa and Sharon; Lisa's spouse also named Pete. Sandy also leaves behind her dear mom, Elizabeth, better know as Betty; brother, Bruce; and her dear auntie, Kay; numerous friends and acquaintances, nieces and nephews; also her long time friend, Karen Darrow; and her cat, Smoke, AKA Demon Kitty. She was preceded in death by her loving father, Bill; dear sister, Cynthia; grandmother, Fran Pryor; and grandfather, Robert Lowman; and her uncle, Duane. Sandy will be truly missed by all who knew her. A special thank you to Providence Colby and Bethany Pacific Campus for all the wonderful care she received during her treatment. But an especially big Thank you from the family to US INNS for her care during her last few months. A Viewing will be held at Evergreen Cemetery on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. and Services on Saturday, April 26th at 10:00 a.m.
