The Guest Book is expired.

Mary peacefully passed away early in the morning on May 29, 2014. She was born in Arlington, Washington on August 15, 1924 to Rasmus and Laura Boe. She grew up on a farm on Boe Road and attended the Florence School through 8th grade. She graduated from Stanwood High School in 1943 as President of her senior class and moved to Everett to live with her Grandmother Sarah Floe while working at the local telephone company. She married Harold (Pug) Lund on September 22, 1945 at Our Saviors Lutheran church in Stanwood, Wash. and the newlyweds first lived at Warm Beach, Wash. They later moved to Sauk, a small logging community nestled between Darrington and Concrete. They eventually moved back to Stanwood and bought their first and only home on Norman Road. Mary Jane was hired on as a bookkeeper at the First National Bank of Stanwood and worked there until she retired. She enjoyed dancing, especially to a good polka or Swedish waltz. When visiting the Lunds, Mary Jane's Scandinavian heritage was on display as her home always had the delicious aroma of freshly baked cookies, pies and cakes. She had a competitive side and enjoyed a little playful bantering while playing pinochle or whist. Her life's passion though was her family. Nothing brought her more pleasure than when the whole clan was together. Sunday afternoon dinners were a tradition at the Lund home and she made sure no one ever left hungry. Whenever a family member with a full tummy declared how stuffed they were while attempting to place their empty dish in the sink, Mary Jane would intervene and could be heard saying, "Nonsense; you've got to eat!" Mary Jane was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband Pug Lund. She is survived by her three daughters, Sonja Austin (Dave), Beverly Klintworth (Bud) and Karen Carlson (Terry); grandchildren, Dave Austin (Shannon), Steve Austin (Merrilee), Tracy Blanchard (Dan), Amy Fierke (Jason), Katie Kelley (Jason), Jaymi Lee (Matt) and Michael Carlson (Signe); and fourteen beloved great grand children. A memorial service will be held on June 11, 2014, 1:00 p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Stanwood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Stanwood with arrangements under the direction of Gilbertson Funeral Home.
