Donald Roy Olson Sept. 27, 1926-Aug. 24, 2014 Donald Roy Olson passed away peacefully on the evening of August 24, 2014 at the age of 87. Don was born on September 27, 1926 to Roy and Elsie Olson in Everett, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy C. Olson and Elsie V. Olson; his son, Jerry Donald Olson; and brother, Johnny C. Olson. Don is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara; brothers, Kenneth Olson and his wife Marlaine, Jim Olson and his wife Mary; sisters, Lois Norgaard, Pat Raines and her husband Fred, Evelyn Landon and her husband Robert; sons, Rick Olson, Tom Olson and his wife Mickey; daughter, Evelyn Belles and her husband Don; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Don lived in the Pacific Northwest his whole life, he attended Everett and Marysville schools and served in the US Army in 1945. He married his sweetheart, Barbara, on November 11, 1950. He worked as a head sawyer for Weyerhaeuser Company and retired after 40 years. Don was an incredibly caring man, he loved to spend time with his family and friends. In his spare time he enjoyed watching golf and football and meeting all his friends and family for Swedish breakfast at Normanna Hall in Everett. He was a Master Craftsman, he knew how to work his skill saw, making beautiful planter boxes, benches, and trinkets for all to enjoy. He loved the outdoors, fishing, and his little dog Abby. Family and friends will remember Don not just for his wonderful smile and caring heart, he also had a huge sense of humor, always laughing and joking. Although Don has passed on, he will always live on in everyone he touched. Visitation is September 2, 2014 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home in Marysville, Washington. A funeral service will be held on September 3, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home. The graveside service will be September 3, 2014 at 12 p.m. at Marysville Cemetery, 8801 State Ave., Marysville, Washington 98270.
