Derek Enders Obituary

Derek Anthony Lupton Enders

Derek passed away peacefully on January 7, 2011 from a heart condition. Derek was born to Tony and Ginny Enders on October 4, 1984 in Seattle, WA. He attended St. Mary Magdelan Grade School in Everett, O'Dea HS is Seattle, and is a 2007 graduate of the University of Washington School of Architecture.
Derek realized while he was in high school that he wanted to pursue a career in Architecture. It became his passion. While attending the UW he met and later married the love of his life, Yuka Shiraishi, in 2009. Derek's name may be found on the dedication plate for the Danny Woo IDC Garden Gathering Place in China Town, Seattle, WA. Derek helped to design and build the park with his UW Architecture class. Derek was working for Marvin Yamaguchi Architecture. Marvin was his friend and mentor. Derek was recognized by his peers for his great talent and would one day leave his mark on the Architecture landscape of Seattle. He also loved art and is well known for his many drawings. He loved to draw persons, places and things that he enjoyed. If you have one of his drawings, you are blessed.
Derek had a great love for the outdoors. He loved hiking the Cascades with his many friends, snow skiing, fishing, and recently started hunting. He will be forever remembered for his sense of humor, his ability to find the good in each of us, and his wonderful smile. Derek had a large circle of friends. Those that knew him were honored to have been part of his life. In the short amount of time that Derek was here he touched the lives of many in such a way that he will never be forgotten. We love you Derek and are proud that we always told you so.
Derek is survived by his wife, Yuka; his parents, Tony and Lindie Enders; his grandmother, Rite Vasquez; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Memorial celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 14, 2011, at Beck's Funeral Home, 405 5th Ave. S in Edmonds, WA.

Dear Derek,
Father Jay did a wonderful job hosting your service today. Your friends and family had so many heartwarming memories to tell. It is evident you touched the lives of so many. Uncle Marty shared about your unfortunate trip down Grandma Mary's laundry chute, which reminded me of your sense of humor. Remember when Laura, Ali, and I dressed you up as a little, old lady? You rang Grandma's doorbell and while distracting her, acting as a cute little peddler selling your goods, we three sneaked the candy bars out of the kitchen, and into the playhouse. If only Mrs. Cook, next door, didn't tell on us for that one!
Derek, I am going to miss you, and the conversations we would have shared back & forth online.
Give Grandma a hug from me, and continue to look over us all until we reunite again someday.
Love, Cousin Carrie

Anthony & Lindie,

My heart goes out to you both for the loss of Derek. Please know you have been in my thoughts and prayers. Although it has been many years since I saw Derek, I will always remember him as the cutest little 3 year old that I met when Randall brought me to Seattle for the first time to meet the family. May God be with you in your time of sorrow. Love always, Louella Kennedy

Derek, you were one of the few people that I can say I am truly happy to have met. You were the type of guy that could make even disagreement a pleasure because of the rich debate that would always ensue. I feel as though I did not get to know you as well as I could have. I really miss you man. I consider myself extremely lucky to have known you in your all too short time here with us. you were and will continue to be an inspiration. to me and many others. I love and miss you Derek.
