Dad's 84 years on this earth, he lived to the fullest! He was born in Astoria, Oregon February 20, 1928 to Petar and Louisa Mardesich, the youngest of five children. He helped out in the family restaurant and attended Astoria Star of the Sea School, graduating in 1945. Dad proudly joined the US Navy in 1946 and served on the USS Taussig (DD - 746), and was chosen to be the bodyguard for the admiral. He loved sharing his Navy years with family and friends, he was proud of it and said he would do it all again.
