Austin Van Leuven Obituary

Austin Van Leuven

Austin Christopher Van Leuven was born June 16, 1994, in Bremerton, WA. On May 28, 2013, he was taken from us suddenly in a tragic accident, just weeks shy of his 19th birthday.
Austin was a kind and gentle soul, known by so many for his light-hearted and uplifting spirit. He had a passion for making people smile, and strived each day to make the lives of those around him a little brighter. He had an amazing gift of writing, and the ability to make deep connections with people.
Austin is survived by his parents, Chris Davis and Brooke Van Leuven; sisters, Mariah and Amelia. He also leaves behind a large extended family and countless friends, who were all fortunate enough to be touched by his peaceful, yet comical nature.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 1 p.m., Spirit of Grace United Methodist Church, 3530 Colby Avenue in Everett.

Not sure what to say?

I hope I am not imposing, because I really didn't know Austin well. I sat next to him in seventh grade science class. But I felt after reading so many comments about how Austin touched lives, that everyone deserved to know that after one middle school seating rotation, he really left a lasting impression on me. I remember he was smart, sweet, and uncommonly sincere - all praises I am not offering lightly. He made that class something to look forward to, and I remembered this kind kid's name all these years later because of it. So, here's a life he touched - Austin really was an awesome person, he made a part of my childhood brighter just by sharing a desk.

Austin, my first great- grandchild. I will forever miss your smile, sound of your funny laugh, the hugs and hearing you say "I love you" when you greeted me and would say good bye to me on the phone. I will always cherish our last Sunday together. Rest in peace my dear one. I'll see you again someday. Love forever, Great-grandma Sharon.

Though I had never met you, I left Howarth Park tonight feeling like I did. Your friends have created the most beautiful and amazing tribute to you. The pictures do not do it justice, I could feel a sense of peace there, I have never met a kid I that I did not love. My heart is heavy for your family and friends. I am saddened that I never met you but I know you are in heaven and god has received his most precious angel. You had a smile that could warm the coldest hearts. God Bless you Austin for the impact you have made on so many and that includes me.
